Greetings Everyone,

It has been a while since I sent out a memorandum so this one will be a little lengthy.

Tomorrow (Apr 9th) we will be having our annual termite inspection.  The technician will be here around 1:30 to inspect the building and studios for signs of termites.  It goes pretty quick, but I wanted to make you aware.

Our AFLAC agent, Deb Brotherton, dropped by yesterday to inquire about setting up a time to hear about the insurance products they offer.  I am including a link that you can click on to learn more.  They offer supplemental insurance like accident and disability that isn’t terribly expensive.  If you are interested in learning more please let me know so we can a time with Deb to come by and meet with us.

I became aware back in March that Mayor Curry ended the mask mandate yesterday around 5PM.  A couple of quick items.  A search on Google didn’t bring up any new updates for salons and the pandemic isn't’ completely done and dusted.  However, looking at the numbers for the 7-day average of COVID infections in Duval county for 2021 are down around 90% from the high on January 8th at 1093 per day to March 26th 116.  Furthermore, the numbers for Florida show that about 25% of the population have received at least one dose of the vaccine.  In all, the numbers are trending in a favorable way which is a major relief.

My guess is that we are probably not too far away from new guidance and requirements from the Board of Cosmetology.  In the meantime, let’s continue with the requirements as set forth.  As just a side note, a big shout to all of you and your clients as everyone has done a great job of dealing with this situation.

Between the last couple of months and in the next few months, we have had or will have three more professionals Diana (119), Juaneil (105) and Pat (108) join Beverly in being here for 10 years.  Shantae (117) will hit nine years a little later this year as well as Marquita (107) with eight. Marva (112), BLu (106), Kim (109), and Jasmine (110) just had their sixth, fifth, fourth and third anniversary here at Mosaic.  Javaris (108) later this year will also hit three years. Tanesha (101) and Destiny (116) just had their two year anniversary and Latavia (122) hit a year earlier this year.  That only leaves five professionals, Jade (124), Lourdes (102), Ashleigh (121), Hazel (115), Allyson (103), and Tatianna (123), who have less than one year with Mosaic. Terrelle (104) has decided to step away from the chair and call it a career.  She was with Mosaic for almost four years going back to October 2011.  We are excited for the new chapter in her life that she will write. Her last day was this week. I would like to say I am super proud of each of you.  This is a big accomplishment for everyone and so we feel between the anniversaries, Terrelle retiring, and with the ending of the pandemic that a celebration is in order.  I will begin making plans to put something together to celebrate.

With Terrelle’s retirement, we have a new professional starting in studio 104.  The new professional is Kieanna Stewart.  She will begin the week of 3/29/2021.  If you get an opportunity please say hello.  We are excited to have her join Mosaic.

Switching gears to equipment.  I have three sets of reupholstered salon chairs.  If your salon chair has cracks in the seat or the back please let me know so we can get it replaced.

With the pandemic coming to a close, we can start to begin thinking about the lobby.  I have noticed that our lobby chairs are in need of attention as they are beginning to show wear.  Instead of reupholstering them, we think that new chairs and revamp of the lobby would be a better direction to go in.  I don’t have an exact timeline but if anyone comes across a chair they think would be a great addition to the lobby please send me a link to it.

Sincerely,

Jay Gardner
