Wasps, bees, etc...

April 29, 2023

Greetings Everyone,

On Friday evening the 21st, I received a message about a client who got stung in one of the studios a few days prior.  The following day, I did an inspection around the building and in the studio, including in the ceiling, but found now signs of wasp or bees' nests in the studio.  Monday morning, I got another message with a picture of what looked like a wasp.  I called a pest control company to come and inspect in order to help me understand better what to do so we could minimize the risk of another sting.  The inspector told me that the insect in the picture was actually a mud dauber type and then showed me what to look for and how to best take care of them.  Monday evening, I was back at the building with a pressure washer, based on the inspector’s recommendation, to hit the few areas where I found some dirt clods where daubers had set up camp on the outside of the building.

To minimize the chance of another sting there are a few items that I need help with from everyone.  These include:

  1. Keep the side doors closed as much as possible. Please pass on to your clients to close the door behind them if they use the side doors.

  2. Keep an eye out for wasp nests and the dirt clods on the building or in the window frames.

If you see a nest or dirt clod forming please let me know so I can take care of it.  Thank you and hope you all have a great weekend.
